Whats Next?

Welcome back to my final blog entry and the last installment of a four part series! If you are new to this blog, I am Christian Wilson from Queens, New York. I created this blog with the intention to provide information about the return of sports amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Last week, we went beyond sports and took a deeper dive into social justice issues that remain a huge blunder in this country. I felt driven to address these issues and use my platform to spread awareness as well as give you guys an outlet to share your thoughts with me and the social media community. The feedback was overwhelming. For that, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has reached out and took the time out to read my blogs up until this point. BLM: A Culture Shift Beyond Sports

Welcome back!  If you are new to this blog, my name is Christian Wilson and I am a student athlete at Longwood University. Throughout this blog, I have been giving exclusive information and insights on the return of sports during the Covid-19 pandemic. I've also been providing a quick update about my team and our experiences on campus during summer workouts. Everything is still going smoothly here in VA; we are working hard, building a lot of team chemistry and staying safe in the process. Is Time Running Out for the NCAA?

As the country attempts to cope with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the future of college sports remains cloudy.  Many questions remained unanswered and that is why I’ll start off the same way I ended my last entry by saying all we can do is take it day by day.  The NCAA is faced with numerous decisions as the 2020-21 college sports season nears. One thing that all sports fans must remember is that universities are educational institutions before anything else. Even though sports are a main attraction and financial contributor, the general operations of academics and facilities of these schools must be sorted out in a safe manner before sports can continue.  These universities are struggling to come to a common ground as new information surfaces daily.  Many are now questioning whether classes should be held in person or to resume online classes, just as this past spring. Some universities have already made the decision to cancel all in-person classes, with Harvard leading the way.

The Return of Hoops?

It’s July already?  I can’t believe half of the year is gone just like that. So far, these past few months have been totally unpredictable.  “Expect the unexpected,” I think is the best way to describe 2020 into words.  The uncertainty that has been driven by the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted millions across the globe including myself. Who am I? I am Christian Wilson. To give you guys a little background about myself, I grew up in the Southeastern part of Queens, New York and still reside in NYC today.  I like to think of myself as an optimistic person, however Covid-19 has brought about a lot of uncertainty at the forefront of my mind just about everyday.  No matter where you come from, we’ve all had to adjust and no matter what you believe in, we can all agree that things have been very different since the beginning of this pandemic.
